Taking care of your teeth is something that British people aren?t exactly known for but in recent years it has started to improve. Techniques like teeth whitening are now becoming more common with products like crest whitening strips and the arrival of practise branded dental plans becoming more readily available.
British peoples gnashers can be bad but most Brits focus on the health of their teeth rather than the look. That said, many of my acquaintances have fillings and for those of the older generation this seems to be more so. During the 80?s attitudes began to change and braces became more common.
Having had a slight overbite when I was younger I was taken to the dentist and measured up for some fitted braces or “train tracks” as they were known in the playground. It was an easy process which started with the dentist making a mould of my teeth and finished with the braces being glued to my teeth. The next step was that the wires were fitted and tightened. This was probably the worst part of the process because I was left with a constant pulling feeling on my teeth, which gave me a dull pain for the first few days. This initial pain calmed down after a few days and then I just had to learn to cope with my braces with regards to eating and drinking.
The braces sorted out my teeth and I?m glad I had braces for that year or so as I can imagine my teeth could have caused a few problems later in life. Now a days Brits have developed their dental hygiene. Teeth whitening has become the latest craze with everything from whitening strips to laser whitening being used at the dentist and at home. It is now more common for dentist surgeries to have their own dental plans. These are practise branded dental plans that allow NHS patients to use private dentists at a reasonable rate.
